Briz’ Top Ten Do Over
Right Now if you did it wrong in August
1. Did you become good friends with your
students? Do over please… being best friends is not the same as
relationship building. I’m not your friend- I’m your teacher. Like or Dislike
me – I need you to respect me.

Have you
been too-too easy on discipline or inconsistent? You need
to plan, have a plan, be a planner, stick to the plan, make the plan clear,
keep the plan clear and don’t let them see you smile till CST! LOL coming from
me that’s funny… I keep smiling, but I stick to the plan and discipline in
accordance! Rules are our friends!
3.
Parent pen
pals? Parent communication? Parent Participation? GET SOME!
4. Have you isolated yourself from the school
staff because someone told you avoid the politics? Come on you need those people – you’re
not alone and no need to act like it. You’re strong enough to avoid the
politics and minutia of academia – you may not be strong enough to keep up the
lone-ranger routine. I say find a balance- come out the room on Thursdays!
5. Last one – are you working to hard- burning the dynamite at both ends? The
explosions coming – best you stop now – pump your breaks -I’m telling you
burning it, burning out, burnt up, burn baby burn… whatever the case may be
spend time with your family, enjoy a mid week break – write a play, play with a
child that is not in your class… something!
I told a falsehood, lied, misled you… I have two more the
last two – ASK FOR HELP and DO NOT JUDGE YOU! DO NOT BE TOO HARD ON YOU- you’re
learning and growing with the rest of the world. They mess up everything too…
why else would the recession be perpetual.
